How to bridge ETH or tokens to Linea

Linea has a dedicated bridging app at bridge.linea.build. Here you can find:
- A bridge aggregator powered by Li.Fi, which supports numerous network and token combinations, is fast, and is the best option for most users.
- The Linea native bridge, which is better suited to technical users or those moving large liquidity.
We'll primarily focus on the bridge aggregator, since it's the most suitable option for most users.
Use the bridge aggregator
Accessible under the "All Bridges" tab at bridge.linea.build, the bridge aggregator is a Li.Fi-powered widget that uses multiple decentralized exchanges (DEXs) and third-party bridges to find a good deal for your transfer.
It supports 23+ networks, including Solana alongside many EVM chains, and many ERC-20 tokens. You can also execute cross-chain swaps (i.e. bridge straight to a different token).
Let's dive in!
-
Head to bridge.linea.build, make sure your wallet is connected, and that you have selected the account from which you want to move funds.
-
Select your source network and token, and then your destination network and token. You can do this by clicking the "From" and "To" panels and then choosing the network at the top and a token from the scrollable, searchable list beneath.

Did you notice you can select a different token on the destination network than the token you're bridging on the source network? This is a cross-chain swap. This means if you want a different token on the destination network, you'll no longer need to bridge and then swap; just do them both at the same time.

- With your networks and tokens selected, you can input the amount you want to transfer. As soon as you do, the widget will automatically find the best deal it can for your transfer. Here's how it looks:

There are quite a few details to process here before you proceed. Let's uncollapse the quote to see more detail:

At the top, you can see an amount of ETH — that's the ETH that we'll receive on Linea as a result of bridging. Other elements here include:
- "Best Return" indicates that the aggregator will find the best value transfer. You can choose between "Best Return" and "Fastest" in settings, by clicking the gear icon in the top-right of the widget.
- The percentage "0.3%" indicates the difference between the amount you entered and the amount you'll receive. It will usually be negative.
- You can see the steps in your transfer itemized. In our case, there is an initial swap and then a bridge transaction afterwards.
- In the bottom right, we have the gas cost of your transfer and the estimated completion time.
- In the bottom left, you'll see the current exchange rate between your token pair (if your transfer includes a swap).
- If you're happy with the quote, click the "Review bridge" button. The details of the transfer will be summarized again, and then you can click "Start bridging" to prompt a transaction for you to sign in your wallet.
If you want the transfer to be sent to a different account than the one it originated from, click the wallet icon in the bottom-right, and then enter the recipient address:

After the transaction is confirmed, your transfer will be underway. You can follow its progress by viewing it in your transaction history, accessible by the receipt icon in the top-right of the widget (next to the settings gear icon).

Use the native bridge
Bridging with the native bridge is only recommended for technically-minded users. For most, the bridge aggregator under the "All Bridges" tab is more suitable. For a full overview, see our docs page on using the native bridge.
You can also view alternative options at the ecosystem portal. Head to linea.build/apps and select the "Bridge" filter.
Using the native bridge is slightly more complex, and involves a mechanism known as "claiming". There are two methods for claiming the funds on the destination network. The one you need depends on the direction of your bridge and whether you're bridging ETH or ERC-20 tokens:
- Automatic claiming means that your funds will automatically appear in your account once the bridge transfer is complete.
- Manual claiming means you'll need to return to the bridge to claim the funds when the transfer is ready to complete, so only choose this option if you have some ETH on the destination network to cover the gas fees.
Automatic claiming is not available when bridging L2 -> L1.
The bridge will default to automatic claiming whenever possible, so manual claiming is only enabled by default when necessary.
For a full overview, see our docs page on using the native bridge.
I used the native bridge but my tokens aren't appearing. What do I do?
-
Make sure your bridged funds aren't waiting to be claimed. If you bridged using manual claiming, then you need to return to the bridge and click the 'Claim funds' button next to the relevant transaction. You're likely to have used manual claiming if you were bridging USDC, or you were bridging from L2 -> L1.
-
Check the status of your transaction on Lineascan:
If your transaction is showing up here, it's in the queue and will be processed. Or, if it's labeled as 'Pending claim', you just need to return to the bridge and claim it.
